The purpose of the work I shoulder is to first evaluate the core principles in hopes to better disclose a message or feeling with clarity.  In the world of design you learn the primary objective of each project is flawless visual communication and avoiding cute clutter. In other words, it is fine tuning ideas and dissecting concepts to be shared through visual elements such as typography, symbols, and color so the vision is crystal. In my profession my initial intentions are to understand my client’s individuality and their goals so what they want underlined can be fluidly reflected.  Within a portrait, for example, it is good to focus on creating a relationship between the emotion, posture, and environment of a subject which can then be shared with the viewer in a fair first impression.  This relationship also makes for more memorable moments the client would memorialize through the seasons of their life.  This closely knit intimacy with intention and discernment I have woven into my life are key to my successes.

WHO IS HE?

3  |  Design Chambers Media  |  PHOTO

Cameron is a multidisciplinary creative based in the Atlanta area.

He is an ambitious art director.

He is an adept graphic designer.

He is a focused photographer.

He is an evolving student.

He is a born leader.  And —

He is a visionary.

A little more on me is I've always been a creative. One with a curious mind and a drive to fill it.  My mother, a creator herself, placed a crayon in my hand igniting a spark in a young boy.  I followed my gift and curiosity in the fine arts through to Savannah Arts Academy where I graduated with a Visual Arts diploma.  I trailed that desire to design, opening a new gate, at Georgia Southern University where I graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design.  As my passion precedes me, I continue to follow my intuition.  Now directing photoshoots with other creatives in Atlanta and prying myself into any other windows leading to artistic opportunities.   This just to say the possibilities are endless when you allow your path to be unimaginable.

PROLOGUE

Traditionally the Japanese haiku, a three-line poem, is written with seventeen syllables in a 5/7/5 syllable count.

Its philosophy is for the reader to pause, focus on a brief moment in time filled with sensory elements that can be digested in just one breath and still leave feeling resolved or fulfilled.

“The image itself is speech. The image is the word beyond formulated language.”    — Ezra Pound

My intentions here are to push the viewer to pause and formulate an understanding of each image's happenings or in the least slow down and focus on the impression received from the photos.  Each supplementary poem/material is to further illustrate or speak to the impression and emotion I personally feel with each portrait.  The feelings gathered when you see each piece speak volumes over what I could overwhelm you with in explanations.  Trust your intuition and ask, "what do my eyes say?"

In addition the Japanese tanka is a thirty-one syllable poem translated as a "short song" written in a five line, 5/7/5/7/7 syllable count form.

The tanka is most comparable to the sonnet in terms of treatment of subject.  The tanka employs a turn, like that of the sonnet, known as a pivotal image. This turn marks the transition from the examination of an image to the examination of the personal response. Typically located within the third line, connecting the kami-no-ku, or upper poem, with the shimo-no-ku, or lower poem.

I included these photos as a toast to the process.  This day while shooting our time was rushed and the bright sun was creating glare on the camera.  This birthed a situation where I did not thoroughly check for how many of the images were coming out blurry.  I later became frustrated looking back thinking that many of the photos would be unusable and our moment was foiled. During editing, however, I decided to take time to experiment with edits and found a look and feel that came out better than my partner and I could have expected.   When things don’t go our way it’s important for me at least to take a moment to assess and think around the problem for a solution.
